MKMMA July 2014 Week One – Let Us Pray

This week we begin the last scroll.  We carry forward one phrase from the previous scroll.  In my case, I chose “I act now.”

In scroll 10, Og gives us the salesman’s prayer and makes some excellent points about our attitude in prayer.  However, I think he misses one extremely valuable point.  Since we always connect to the Universal, our prayers are always heard and answered.

Jesus said:  “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?” (Matt 7:9)  That is to say, the Father gives good instead of bad.

Here is a fuller account (Luke 11:10-12) from the King James version:

10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

If you prefer the Living Bible:

10 Everyone who asks, receives; all who seek, find; and the door is opened to everyone who knocks. 11 “You men who are fathers—if your boy asks for bread, do you give him a stone? If he asks for fish, do you give him a snake? 12 If he asks for an egg, do you give him a scorpion? Of course not!

Maybe you like The Message:

10-13 “Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your little boy asks for a serving of fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? If your little girl asks for an egg, do you trick her with a spider? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing—you’re at least decent to your own children. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him?”

Bottom Line: God is good.  He has provided for us abundantly.  We are grateful receivers of the gifts that surround us.  We are in the flow.

Peace be the Journey.
